GoHighLevel SMS Gateway FAQs
Clear answers about devices, SIMs, pricing, GHL integration, reseller use, and responsible messaging.
ASG is a managed, agency-focused service that connects compatible Android + SIM-based SMS infrastructure to GoHighLevel. Your agency keeps using GHL while the SMS transport uses a connected mobile device.
GoHighLevel agency owners and advanced GHL operators. We are not positioning ASG as a direct-to-local-business texting app.
Yes. Your agency supplies and manages compatible Android hardware, SIMs, and wireless service. ASG provides the platform/service layer, onboarding guidance, and support.
Compatible dual-SIM Android hardware is supported by the underlying platform. Exact SIM-to-GHL-location routing should be confirmed for your intended deployment during onboarding.
We do not market ASG as “unlimited SMS.” ASG does not charge a per-message platform fee, but your carrier plan, carrier fair-use rules, device limits, and responsible messaging practices still apply.
ASG uses an Android + carrier SIM transport model rather than the traditional LC Phone/Twilio application-messaging route, so that standard provisioning path is not part of the ASG setup. This does not remove consent requirements, opt-out obligations, carrier acceptable-use rules, or applicable law.
No. Changing the transport mechanism does not eliminate consent, opt-out, TCPA, carrier-policy, or other applicable legal obligations. ASG is intended for legitimate, consent-based business messaging.
The service is designed to support an agency-managed reseller model. You decide how to package and price your client-facing service, while ASG remains your agency infrastructure layer.
Yes. The core ASG messaging toolkit is included across every plan. The main plan differences are connected Android-device capacity and support level. See the Pricing page for the full matrix.
ASG includes AI auto-reply and knowledge-base functionality. Your agency supplies its own compatible OpenAI API key, and any AI-provider usage charges are separate from your ASG subscription.
The platform includes SMS campaigns, scheduling, automated drip sequences, keyword data collection, custom variables, missed-call text-back, URL shortening with click tracking, message-variation tools such as Spintax/AI Spintax, and live messaging activity tracking.
Yes. The platform includes a REST API, webhooks, and an OTP/phone-verification API for agencies that want to connect additional workflows or systems.
The underlying platform includes two-factor authentication and AES-256-GCM encryption. Your agency is still responsible for protecting credentials, devices, carrier accounts, and any connected third-party API keys.
The first 20 agencies can access launch pricing of $29, $59, $89, or $129 per month depending on device tier. That pricing stays locked while the subscription remains continuously active, subject to the final service agreement.
No trial is advertised at launch. We are using a controlled onboarding approach for the first agencies so we can validate each deployment and improve the process.
The optional $99 setup provides guided configuration of the gateway connection, GHL connection, initial inbound/outbound test, reply verification, STOP handling check, and production-readiness review.
ASG is positioned as SMS infrastructure. Voice should be treated as a separate requirement unless a specific supported workflow is confirmed for your deployment.
The device connection itself is usually a short setup: install the companion app, link the device, connect GoHighLevel, and run tests. ASG uses controlled onboarding, so production launch also includes routing, reply, workflow, STOP/START, and device-health checks.
The connected Android phone is the SMS transport. Messages use a real carrier SIM and mobile number while your team continues working from GoHighLevel workflows and Conversations. We recommend a dedicated Android device rather than a personal phone.
When opt-out handling is enabled, common opt-out words such as STOP, END, CANCEL, QUIT, and UNSUBSCRIBE are detected and the contact is blocked from additional messaging. A supported START message can resubscribe the number. Agencies are still responsible for honoring consent and opt-out laws.
The current platform includes an opt-out-rate safeguard using a rolling 24-hour window. After meaningful sending volume, high opt-out rates can automatically pause sending to protect the number, with sending able to resume after the rate drops. Exact thresholds and behavior can change with platform updates, so check the Help Center for the current operating guidance.
ASG plans scale primarily by connected Android gateway devices, not by the number of GHL locations. Exact location-to-device and SIM routing is validated during onboarding.
Supported agency configurations can provide separate client/sub-account access so each client can connect and manage its own assigned phone resources while the agency keeps the overall service relationship.
Yes. The platform includes reusable message templates, auto link shortening, click tracking, scheduled campaigns, custom variables, contact organization, and related messaging tools.
Use the Agency SMS Gateway Help Center. The Documentation page covers setup and deployment, while the Knowledge Base covers common device, routing, workflow, carrier, opt-out, and AI issues.
