Connect an Android gateway device

How to prepare and connect the Android phone that provides the SIM-based messaging transport.

Before making production changes: exact screen names and platform behavior can change as GoHighLevel, Android, carriers, and the underlying messaging platform evolve. Test changes on a controlled deployment first.

Recommended device setup

  1. Use a dedicated Android device rather than an employee's personal phone.
  2. Use a supported Android version; the current underlying platform documents Android 8.0+ support, while newer supported hardware is preferable.
  3. Install the supported companion/gateway application from the onboarding instructions provided by ASG.
  4. Sign in or scan the device-connection QR code shown in the supported dashboard flow.
  5. Confirm the device reports online before testing GHL.

Keep it online

Leave the gateway on dependable power, keep Wi-Fi/mobile data available, and allow the gateway application to run in the background.

Verify

Send a normal manual SMS from the phone first, then send an ASG test message. This separates carrier problems from platform connection problems.

Still not working? Contact ASG with the device name, carrier, GHL location, approximate timestamp, and the exact step that failed.
